Growing Leadership in Kirkcaldy Free Church

28th February 2018

Our church family was delighted to see Tom Penman ordained as an elder a few weeks ago.  It was lovely to have some friends from Knox Church, Perth joining us for the occasion.  Tom joins Rich McCallum, John Johnstone and Iain Macleod (an assessor elder) on the kirk session. The Penman’s move to Kirkcaldy has been an answer to prayer and we are grateful to the Lord that our leadership has been bolstered in this way.

Tom will gain invaluable leadership experience which will be helpful for his future role in ministry.  Moreover, as he utilises his gifts on the session he will be a blessing to the whole congregation.   Indeed, we have already benefitted from Tom’s preaching, encouragement and from the hospitality of the Penman family.

Tom writes: “According to the apostle Paul: ‘Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task (1 Tim 3 v1)’. So I am looking forward to serving our church as an elder. Although I am a candidate for ministry, this position will be more than just ‘work experience’. I want to be a blessing to the congregation and work with my fellow elders to disciple the church.”

Pray that God would equip Tom for all that he needs to be a husband, dad, student and elder in the church.  And let’s give thanks to God for hearing and answering our prayers.  You can see the elders below- from left to right: Iain Macleod, John Johnstone, Tom Penman and Rich McCallum.
