Last Sunday we said goodbye to the Penman family at our congregational lunch. Their 2 years with us have whizzed by. We all felt ambivalently about it- sorry to see them go, but glad that Tom has been called to South Uist & Benbecula, where he’ll be inducted on the 8th of October, God willing. Even in a relatively short space of time, they have been an encouragement to the church family in Kirkcaldy, as we have been to them (in their own words). That’s the way it should be!
Tom served as an elder with us, led a Christianity Explored course, and gained further preaching experience during his time in Fife. His enthusiasm, input to Bible Studies, and servant-heartedness will be missed. Their time among us underlines that Kirkcaldy is not just a viable but beneficial option for those who want to study and be a help to a local church- Tom was just a short commute away from Edinburgh on the train.
We presented them with a picture of Kirkcaldy beach to remind them of their time here, and which will hopefully prompt them to pray for us for many years to come, as we will do for them.
